Easter Carrot Crochet Basket

With Easter just around the corner, these crochet carrot baskets are the best way to gift your easter chocolate to your bunnies. They are so easy to make and perfect for the beginner crocheter.

-MATERIALS-

·      DK yarn in orange and green

·        10mm crochet hook

·        Embroidery needle and scissors

-ABBREVIATIONS-

·        Magic Loop (I chain two and crochet into first loop to create ring)

·        CH – Chain

·        ST – Stitch

·        SL ST – Slip stitch

·        SK ST – Skip stitch

·        SC – Single crochet

·        HDC – Half double crochet

·        DC – Double crochet

·        JOIN and FO – SL ST into next ST, chain one, cut yarn

·        FO- Fasten off

·        T – Turn

-CONSTRUCTION NOTES- 

-        Pattern written inside ** should all be made into the same stitch.

-        Pattern written inside () should be repeated the number of times stated.

-        Pattern is written using US Crochet terminology.

-        CH2 counts as HDC

-        There are no SC between clusters, this is to keep the gaps tight.

Granny Square – make with orange yarn.

1.      CH4, SLST into the 1st CH to form a loop, working into the loop CH2, HDC2, CH2, (HDC3, CH2) 3 times, SL ST into the top of CH2, SL ST to CH2 corner space.

2.      CH2, HDC2, CH2, HDC3 all into corner ST, (HDC3, CH2, HDC3) all into next CH2 space, repeat () 3 times, SL ST into the top of CH2, SL ST to CH2 corner space.

3.      CH2, HDC2, CH2, HDC3 all into corner ST, HDC3 into the space between each of the next 2 clusters from previous row, (*HDC3, CH2, HDC3* all into CH2 space, HDC3 into the space between each of the next 2 clusters from previous row) repeat () 3 times, SL ST into the top of CH2, SL ST to CH2 corner space.

 4-10. CH2, HDC2, CH2, HDC3 all into corner ST, HDC3 into each of the spaces between the clusters from the previous row, (*HDC3, CH2, HDC3* all into CH2 space, HDC3 into each of the spaces between the clusters from the previous row) repeat () 3 times, SL ST into the top of CH2, SL ST to CH2 corner space. – 2 rows.

11. SC around entire square doing 2SC into the corners.

12. Fold two right sides of the square together that are joined by a corner and SC them together by going through consecutive stitches. Only join one side.

Join and FO.

Top of Carrot – make with green yarn.

1.      Join green to top of 'carrot' CH15, SLST into the 1st CH, CH20, SL ST back into original 1st CH, CH15, SL ST back into the 1st original chain.

Join and FO.
