-        All instructions inside ** are to be made into same space.

-        All instructions inside () are to be repeated number of times stated afterwards.

-        Pattern is written using US Crochet terminology.

-PATTERN NOTES-

·        Change yarn colour at any time using any colour change method you like.

·        Instructions given will make a medium size women’s hat with a 2” turn at the bottom.

·        Width measures 10.5”’

·        Hat can be altered to be made bigger or smaller by altering the beginning chain number and adding or removing building rows (row 2 and 3).

·        If you feel extra edgy – how about not cutting off all the yarn tails for a more modern looking hat.

-SPECIAL STITCHES-

Whip Stitch Together:  Using a long strand of yarn and an embroidery needle sew through consecutive stitches on both pieces to join. This can be done through both loops of the granny squares or just the front / back loops.

Hat – begin with chosen colour.

1.      CH59, HDC into the 3rd CH from hook, HDC to the last 7 stitches, SC7, CH1, T {57}

2.      SC7, HDC to end, CH2, T {57}

3.      HDC to last 7 stitches, SC7, CH1, T

4-64. repeat rows 2 and 3.

Join and FO leaving a long tail for sewing together.

Using any method you like sew row 64 and row 1 together. I used whip stitch.

Using the same tail weave in and out the stitches at the end of the hat and then pull to join them together. Use the tail to sew the remaining hole closed.

Why not leave yarn tails uncut for an extra modern look?
